I'm new to chickens, but I went to Target and got the rubbermaid bins. I bought an 18gallon one for about $4.50 and cut a hole into the side. I put the lid side up (So I could have easy access to view in.).
The chickens seem to love it. Heck this morning I bought a 10 gallon one and put a hole aobut 6"x4" on the side for the baby chicks to hide in, and the big ones started going into it!
