Help on how my duck could have died?

Was there no one else you could have asked to come over and feed her for you? What about a big feeder that could hold several days' worth of food in it?

I'm sure you're aware that not feeding animals for days can be detrimental to their health, especially since she was so young and still growing. What about your other ducks, did they get fed during that time? Did any of them have water? I am just so sorry and don't mean to sound mean or anything, but that certainly may have had something to do with her death. It's true she could have had something else going on as well, but I'm sure not eating (or possibly drinking; which is even more hazardous) for two days further compounded any problem she may have had.

If you ever have to go away again, please get someone to take care of and feed your animals while you're gone. Or at least invest in some feeders and waterers that can hold enough food/water for the length of your absence. It's always better to have an actual person come and look in on them though so you know they're ok.

You are responsible for proving your animals with basic care and I am slightly infuriated that you failed to do this for two days. I don't know your situation or what happened to take you away from your ducks though, so it's not my place to judge. I'm just trying to help you prevent something like this from happening again.

Oh i totally understand. I feel terrible. But before I couldn't feed her for the same reason and she was totally fine.

but I feed my other ducks regularly. But i just thought she would be ok for a day or 2. But if thats how she died i know not to do that again. There is also another thing i was thinking. Could there have been a way she could have had a birth defect? Because she hatched a couple days early and always wobbled when she walked. Not sure if she had anything else with the hatch??

If you promise to never do that again to any of your animals, I will be a happy camper. :) And thank you for not getting defensive. I didn't want to sound like I was attacking you, I just wanted you to know how serious a situation it is. I like that you seem to genuinely want to find out what happened and prevent anything like that from happening again. Live and learn, it's all we can do!

And yes, it's also possible she had some sort of internal problem since birth, which we can just never know about. I guarantee that your ducks will be healthier and happier if they are fed and watered every single day, though. ;)

Oh why would i attack you? I need to get yelled at for this. But i promise to never do it again! I love my ducks. Especially Bell the one that passed. She was my favorite and always stayed in my room with me. (Might sound werid to have duck in my room) and always followed me around the house! Since she was my favorite i just wish i knew what was wrong with her.

I know, i hate myself for doing that..

Yes t
I don't want you to hate yourself just remember that we can't go for long periods of time with out food and water and neither can animals. Take very good care of the the ones you have left, you have a chance to make this right. :hugs

Yes thank you i know. I'm going to try and hatch more and not do what i did!
