Help on learning what to do with broody PET hens

Im sure there is a topic on here about this but I am awful with the search page and finding what I need! Could someone post a link to where there is info with how to deal with broody pet hens?

I have 2 young hens that I want to know when the time comes how to deal with it. Obviously they will never be mommas and I cant give them fertile eggs because I dont know any one with chickens, I live in town, I dont wanna sell the chick and I dont wanna get attached to a chick and want to keep it.

Do they just have an instinct to be a mom? How do they even KNOW that chicks come from eggs? Haha stupid question but if they never see it happen, how do they know its possible?

Here is a good site ..but i have found soaking them in a bath of cold water helps alot (When Broody, their temp goes way up.....the cold water soaking lowers their body temp back down and thus tends to break the cycle at that moment)
