I have 7 duck eggs in my bator, due Saturday, and one seems to be oozing. It smells a little and is sticky and brown. Does that mean it's dead or could it still hatch? I don't want to bother it if it has any chance.

Personally, I would take it out. When I was hatching some eggs, I did keep a couple of those and they ended up exploding.

Yeah, I think the odds of that one hatching are pretty low. If it were me I would take it out before it exploded or became a breeding ground for bacteria.

It means it could explode any time and you need to get it out of there to avoid a terrible mess.

get it out of there right now. there is no chance of it hatching.. and if it gets to stinking really bad it could kill the rest of your eggs..
no if ands or buts...........

Exactly what jimnjay & jvls say. Needs to be carefully taken out of the bator before it pops and ruins the rest of the eggs.

invert a plastic bag over your hand, reach in grab the egg gently then turn the plastic bag inside out over the egg, just in case

Well I took them out. There were two. I guess one started this morning. I'll be disposing of them carefully and far away from the house.

I now have 4 left that at last candling looked good. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I'd like at least one hatch from my first incubation.
