Help!!!! Opened incubated egg too soon! Chick's still alive?!?

I've had a similar situation trying to help a chick hatch. There was quite a bit of blood so i stopped and put it back in the bator with a damp paper towel. Now ive removed most of the shell and membrane and the yolk hasn't absorbed fully. How can I help it? Is there any substitute for the yolk that i could feed it?

I don't think so. Do a search for duck in a cup. That part may help

It is helpful to put the powdered chick supplement in the chick's water especially if it didn't get all the yolk. You can also give them drinks of the vitamin water if you have a syringe. I use a 1 cc syringe and if you squeeze just a little drop of water at the end and put it to the chick's beak, it will start to drink from it. I would do this after the chick is mostly dry and recovered from hatching though. Right now you don't want to chill it at all.

I know my chicks just seemed to have such a strong will to live, and so they did. They managed to do the impossible and it's amazing.

And here's some more pictures of Amelia and Nugget (yes,I finally chose a name for egg #2. and the name goes against my own rules, but she's just such an odd little thing, and nugget's such a cute name,I couldn't help myself)

They sleep on the bed! It is the cutest thing ever

They're both eating (a lot!) and drinking and pooping and running around like little chicks do. If you were to look at them now, you'd never guess they were a week late hatching or that they hatched without a shell!

A few more because look how cute!

Nuggetta!

Yes,my chicken may judge you.

Oh, Nugget,you're eyes xD

kitkat - see, i knew you could do it. congratulations!

you are now more equipped to deal with hatching problems in the future, i hope you keep trying! you have done an excellent job with these chicks.

Someone has way too much time on their hands!!! :):):)

adorable digs though! I just hate to see them poop on their lovely white carpet thou. :)

Okay, I need some advice. I am new to this site, and I am hoping someone can give me some advice. I'm sorry if I'm not posting in the right place, but this topic is a "help" one, and I could use it.

I have nine chicken eggs in my incubator. One has pipped. In searching for how long the pip to zip process takes, I noticed that pictures of pipping and zipping had the eggs upright in an egg carton. I have my eggs on a layer of paper towel lying on their sides. Should I prop them up? They are on day 19. Have been out of the turner about 24 hours. The one that has pipped did so about 4 hours ago.

I have a classroom of second graders who are going to be thrilled if we are successful in hatching some chicks.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
