He ate some layer feed this morning and I gave him some scrambled egg with a bit of nutritional yeast and water mixed in with it and he ate a bit of it. He's also been drinking out of his water bowl I gave him that's mixed with half a millilitre of poultry cell. I'm planning on giving him a raw egg yolk or two in a cup with about 2 ml of poultry cell so hopefully he'll get the needed about to help him continue his recovery. How long do you think I should continue giving him Poultry Cell after he's back to normal?I would cook or scramble the egg. It will be easier to eat and less messy. Glad that he is improving and eating. If you add water to a small amount of his food, he may eat that and get mire fluids. A rooster could handle up to 2-3 ml of Poultry Cell daily. Vitamin E works to treat neurological problems. 400 IU daily is a good dose. Chopped almond, sunflower seed, spinach and collard greens have vitamin E.
Thanks, me too! Okay great to know!Glad to hear that he is doing much better. Once he is back to normal, I would stop the Poultry Cell. It is a boost good for a few days at the 2-3 ml dosage, but if taken for longer, it could cause some diarrhea. If he is eating a balanced chicken feed he should nit need it any longer.
He's been great! I was going to give an update but got sidetracked. He's been roosting, crowing, and even mounting hens! He's also been properly moved into his own coop with his own hens. I'm so incredibly thankful for all the help from everyone!!!! Here's some photos of him from yesterday!Any update on your rooster?
Thanks! He's seems a lot happier since being in his own flock, one of my younger roosters did fight with his dad (only two roosters that were in my free ranging flock at the time of the fight). I think fighting was probably part of Saffron's injury. I've never had more than one adult rooster in a flock so this was definitely a learning experience for me. I'll 100% be taking precautions next spring when I raised the next generation of chicks!I am glad to hear that he is doing well! And thank you for the pictures that prove it.
