The chick has been pipped for over 24 hours. I could tell the membrane was drying and was afraid it was shrink wrapped. I chipped the smallest bit away on either sides of the pip hole and lubricated the membrane with oil. Went to put it back in the incubator and dropped it on the counter!! A little blood came out so I dabbed it quickly with a dry paper towel. I lubed the rest of the exposed membrane with bacitracin and put a damp paper towel in next to it. The original hatch day should have been Monday for this guy so not sure if it hit a cold spot in the bat or or not. Needless to say in scared but it’s chirping and visibly trying to get out. I’m afraid it’s shrink wrapped. I’m scared to make it bleed again after the damage it took earlier. What do I do?! Should I take it out and try to remove a little near where it’s trying to get through and dampen the membrane more? Help! I don’t wanna loose this baby!
