Help please—Ivermectin dosage needed ASAP

Have you tried Permethrin?
Yup! I think they have depluming mites. I’m going to use Sevin. We are a really organic loving household so this Ivermectin/Sevin crap is hard for me to take...BUT that said, there’s a time and place for everything so I’m keeping an open mind. I think you turned me on to harnessing the awesome powers of Permethrin in my flock!! Just got some more 10% today! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

do you just inject it down their throats?! Mine are really tame but didn’t love that. So I put it on bread and gave it to them like a treat (I separated them to prevent thievery related overdoses 🤣)
Yes, I am evil, down the throat for everyone.

Your vet suggested 0.44 mg/kg, which is in the normal range.

Minimum effective dose is said to be 0.2 mg/kg (this is also the most common one in vet formularies)

Max dose, which is the one I use, is 1 mg/kg.

If you want to follow his directions, give 0.02 ml per pound of bodyweight. If you want to use the max dose, use 0.045 ml per pound of body weight (okay to round up to 0.05 ml per pound).

With your vets suggestion a five pounder would get 0.1 ml
My mega-max dose a five pounder would get 0.227 ml (round up to 0.23 or 0.25)

Does that help at all?
Safe to use the gel I have on hand at same rate? Paste 1.87%

Welcome to BYC!

For lice, mites, fleas, the 1.87% paste dose is 0.024 ml per pound of body weight.
Ivermectin is no longer an effective poultry de-wormer. If your bird has worms, get some Safeguard or Valbazen.

Using Revolution Kitten dose for my Polish Roo. Simple to use thankfully for lice, mites, worms. Love modern meds. Safer and more effective than the old stuff.
