Help please. Chick folding its head underitself, running backwards

From what I have read it seems like the cause of wry neck can be an interaction of various factors like congenital issues (like the vaulted skull), diet (lack of vitamins or exposure to toxins) or an injury to the head. So maybe your little chick was more susceptible from birth or perhaps it had a bump to the head.

I did wonder about this also, it doesn't appear to have any swelling or soreness that I can tell from its head. Given that they can be similar genetically as offspring but totally different chromosomally I think that this chick just was more susceptible than the others due to the difference at the chromosome level.

Hi guys I thought that I would update you all with this chicks progress. So far it has stopped running backwards and backwards rolly-pollying however its neck is still off. He/she can lift its head better, is eating and drinking by itself and isn't slow to get to the small slice of dog roll that I've been adding their vitamins and selenium to ( crushing into a powder and kneading it like bread dough to mix it in as equally as possible) I've been giving it extra selenium and vit e 2 times a day so its getting plenty, I just hope its getting past the Blood Brain Barrier ( BBB) . Irregardless its looking better than the other day. The others are all getting some vit e and selenium each day in the dog roll that I've been giving them and so far no one else is having this problem which is good.

It good to hear that the chick has improved except for the neck. Try to limit the selenium to 40 micrograms a day--more of that one is not better. Selenium is also found in eggs and canned tuna. Hopefully, the chick will improve more with time.
