Help - please fix my plan!

I have birds that move on, birds that go to the freezer, and birds that have a home here for life. It's most economical to follow the commercial 'all in, all out' management plan, but that wasn't ever going to happen here!
Do be prepared to deal with losses to predators if you free range, and to make your coop and run as safe as possible.

On the cancer note, do you make cancer fighting juices? I have recently become a huge believer in masticating juicers for getting the most specific nutrition benefits from fruits and veggies. There are many recipes online.
I haven't really looked into this and just googled it to see what masticating juicers were! I'm going to have to look into it! I do a lot of protein shakes as I've lost so much muscle mass. We do eat a ton of raw fruit and veggies, and there are wild blueberry, raspberry and blackberry in the woods abutting our land. We collect as much as we can if we can get there before the bear and birds! It's funny, Drs tend to brush off the naturalist approaches. But I can tell you that neither my wife or I have had even a cold since we started raising bees and harvesting raw honey. Honey from local wildflowers are supposed to be great for boosting the immune systems. We now use honey instead of any sugar in every recipe.
Thanks for the advice. I'll do some reading on the juice recipes!

You can get about a dozen servings of fruits and veggies in a glass of juice!

I'll bet that your human contacts are also way down since moving to the 'boonies' too!
Good eating pays off though. Eating the whole fruit sounds like a plan; why is it better to grind it up??? Buying another gadget?

Leaving the fruit fiber in that machine? It's better eaten!

Your approach is how I envision our approach. Like you, I'm not looking for the most economical way. I'm looking for healthy food. And - I really wanted to find a new hobby that wasn't too taxing on my body (after building the coop!) I still have days when I just feel like crap, and tested my ability to manage daily "chores" with our bees first. The chickens were next in my recovery plan... not too much work, but enough to get me up and outside daily. So far I'm enjoying it immensely. If all goes well, in spring, I will add the freedom rangers into the plan. Also a few turkeys, and then maybe goats- i'm tired of clearing brush and could use the help there!

Because you can't possibly eat 12 servings of veggies for lunch. In my case I need to flood my body with iron right now to stay out of the hospital. Have been in twice this year. Only two things work for me. The juice and a direct iron infusion. So I get all the benefits of 12 servings of veggies, without having to eat that much food in a sitting.

You crack me up! We did move to the boonies! But we have as spectacular view, and I find so much peace being in the mountains. Having bear and moose walk across the lawn was just what I needed. But other than the UPS driver, trips to the feed store and Dr appointments, the only people I see are family and friends. My wife thinks I was a hermit in a prior life!
