Does anyone have experience hatching Indian Runner ducklings via incubator?
Roughly Day 21. I believe I’ve lost this baby which is heartbreaking because it was kicking around less than a week ago.
Any thoughts/advice are appreciated as I only have 3 eggs from my girl who was recently killed by my neighbours dog, so I am praying I get one of her babies! 💔

You did not kill this egg!!! Death is a natural part of life, some just don’t make it, it is sad but normal. There is very little control we actually have over major life processes even with our so-called advanced science and medicine, people still die of cancer, miscarriage rates are high, and fertility treatments are still mostly guesswork. As long as you treat your eggs well preincubation and provide stable temp and turning, there is nothing else you can do! Life is messy and a typo in the egg genes is often fatal, running the humidity at exactly 37.85% or turning 5.987 times per day won’t fix that vital flaw, don’t blame yourself or look for some interwebs guru to offer a guaranteed fix, rather accept this very basic fact and be gentle with yourself, be grateful for what you still have rather than beating yourself up over statistical realities, a 10% early and late embryonic death rate is fairly normal (not shipped eggs) but hatching fewer than 10 eggs means even losing one really makes the stats look bad. I’d ignore percentages on small batches, instead focus on your living eggs and enjoy the process!
