HELP! Please help ASAP!!!

@mamaof2wi I am here but will have to just give emotional support and leave the wound care to those that know. I've never had to deal with this before but want you to know I've been here a long time and have seen amazing recoveries. Your doing great taking care of her :hugs

Did this happen in broad daylight?

Thoughts? wing is attached but broken. It just hangs there.

she is also wanting her friends. I feel like that stresses her out more not being with them?

Do you have a cage that you could put in the other ducks area? I would put her in that if you could during the day and bring her into your garage and cover the cage at night to help keep her settled down.
hugs. It's so hard to do what's right for them sometimes. FYI I just dealt with a duckling that had a broken leg and he could not use it at all 3 weeks ago. It's healed now and a bit sideways but other than a very slight limp(move from the strange movement than pain I think) no other issues. He didn't use that leg for 2 weeks at all. I think if you keep taping the wing in place it will heal - just a matter of setting it so that it heals in the best position.
Hope she continues to do well today.

There are SO many flys right now. I worry about them getting on her and causing infection being outside??

ewww... yeah they would lay eggs and then you'd have maggots - it's not really that bad they would eat any dead flesh but extraordinarily disgusting - so yup. Keep her inside. I still say garage just because there is less coming and going and it's warmer/closer to what she's used to.

I have not wrapped her yet. She is eating and drinking and even cleaning the area. Should I leave unwrapped a little longer. She is content sitting on the towel with us out of the room.

If the wing is still attached and is just broken, I would rewrap it so it hugs her body (not too tight or you'll cut off the circulation). It will give it a chance to heal correctly.

Just make sure you're still cleaning the wound often and watching for infection. Raccoons are pretty dirty so there will be a lot of bacteria in there.

Also don't put her with the others. They'll reopen any wounds and pick at her. Keep her isolated inside. Hope she heals quickly!
