Help please - Soft Shelled Eggs everyday and not sure what to do

Hello and I will thank you now for your time and insight to my egg question!
At 2.5 years old, our 9 hens, which are buff Orpington's and Rhode Island Reds, lay one or two eggs a day. Are they just too old? And then there’s this misshapen egg laid about once a week.
The egg is sort of flat, has dark and light shades on it.
It looks like it has been pecked, but that side is always down in the nest box. Almost like it was “wet” or not complete when laid. The shell looks like it was pecked, membrane is not broken and the hole is on the bottom. What are your thoughts please?
See Post #7, above. The hen laying this egg needs a boost of calcium citrate +D3. For 5 to 7 days should fix it. If it does not please let us know. Good luck!

Not sure what's causing the problem egg but it wouldn't hurt to try supplementing calcium and seeing if that helps at least strengthen the shell.

As far as the reduction in eggs it's much shorter daylight hours and you have older birds which should be molting soon, if they aren't already. 1-2 eggs a day is decent under those circumstances.

I have 15 potential layers and got 3 eggs today. Which is a 300% increase over yesterday's yield, lol! Yes, for the last month I have been getting 1 to 3 eggs a day due to molting. Shrug. It happens this time of year. And it may get worse as the sun goes to vacation in the Bahamas and points south for the next six months.... I'll be adding supplemental light in late January, early February, after my last hen is done molting. Meanwhile, I've been hoarding eggs for the last month like Scrooge MDuck and his piles of gold coins!
