I just bought some Egyptian Cotton sheets. So, I put them into the washer on the gentle cycle. I stood and waited until it was nearly full with warm water to put the sheets in after agitating the water so that there was no soap left on the bottom. I put the sheets in, closed the lid and the washer filled up. And just sat there. There's no movement, no nothing. I KNOW it spins and I KNOW it rinses. This explains why there have been clothes with soap stuck to them recently!!!

How do I save my sheets? The dye is not set in them as I can see from the pink water. Can I agitate them in the washer by hand and then put them into the tub to rinse and put into the dryer to dry?

Brandon will have to fix the washer tonight if he wants clean towels....any ideas as to what's wrong with it?

I've never done anything on the gentle cycle...is this what it is supposed to do?

Sounds like possibly the belt is broken, which is an easy not expensive fix. Hopefully that is it.

Not sure on your washer what the gentle cycle consists of. I have a front load and it does not agitate at all, but still makes the same movements on gentle as other cycles.

I texted the previous owners of the house (LONG story!) and she said that it agitates and then stops, agitates then stops on the gentle cycle.

I went down there and realized that in my panic I had pulled the knob out instead of pushing it back in, which stopped the cycle completely. I pushed it back in and 5 seconds later it started agitating.

Wow...talk about not being on the ball...haha!

Sorry guys..I had NO idea what was going on with it!

Try setting it to the spin cycle to see if it will spin the water out. Mine broke a few years ago, it would fill with water but wouldn't agitate or spin out. Turns out the moter was shot and I had to get a new washer. I hope you can fix yours!

ETA: Glad it worked out! I know how a non-working appliance will induce panic! Been there, too.

It's still frustrating but I'm always so relieved when my non-functioning stuff turns out to be user error, especially when nobody's watching

BTW, you're going to LOVE those sheets- they are so cool and smooth to sleep on!

I have forgotten to press the start button on my washer...... Yes, Egyptian Cotton Sheets are DA BOMB!!!!! I have become a sheet snob because of them, I have to have no less than 400 count and preferably 600 count.......
