I believe that crossing him with a partridge colored hen would produce more creole offspring. But then again since he's a mix, who knows what'll come out. He's like a party surprise pack
I have the perfect hen! Omg! She's a dark brahma I'm pretty sure (I got her at the auction) she's dark brown almost black with yellow feathers down her neck! They will make pretty babies! Every thing else I have is solid or a sex link! When it finally happens I post pics!
I got a roo a few mos ago that was crele colored. He was a mix, like this guy. Dominique and buff Orpington, I believe is what we decided he must be from what my friend had. Single comb, which threw us off, so he must have had the Dominique more that 1 gen back? Not sure. The only 3 breeds my friend has are buff orps, Dominiques, and salmon faverolles, so it was kind of a no brainer.
Anyway, he was crele. I don't have him anymore (he attacked my 3 year old dd and went to freezer camp) but I have a bantam pullet that just hatched out her first set of babies after sitting on 7 eggs before she was even 6 mos old!, pretty sure they're all his! According to the genetics calculator, I may have some babies that look like him from my silver EEs and maybe my red sexlink. I do have 1 chick that is black with a white spot, so it will be some type of black barred. According to the genetics calculator, that one must have come from my red sexlink. Then I have one that looks like a little chipmunk with puffy cheeks. Must be from my orange and blue EE. And 2 yellow chicks with some gray markings, I assume from my silver EEs. (3 of these hatched, but one got pecked to death.
) Sadly, my Faverolle egg was a dud. Can't tell if the crele roo was the dad of my bantam pullet's baby since our only other roo is a black bantam, and the pullet is splash. According to the calculator, either dad will make a blue baby, so we just have to see how big it gets, guess.
Same subject different birds, at my parents I have a black jersey hen on a nest right now with a red sex link roo, anyone seen that mix? How did the babies look?
He's a lovely crele colored barnyard cross. He has a very nice rose comb so I would suspect that both parents in the mix had rosecombs. He may even have Redcap in him if he's that young with that large and well developed of a rose comb already. I can't think of any rose combed feather legged birds unless the feather legged ancestor is farther back in the lineage. We can only speculate on what all he has in him at this point.
I have some similar colored mutts, though they have mottling on top. They are a breeding project and are not Supposed to be barred, but they sure are pretty!
I dunno what all they are crossed with, but they have some EE, some NHR, and some speckled Sussex in the mix.
I have a bunch more pics of them on the 'orange mottled chicken' thread
