HELP PLEASE

About 2 feet deep, it’s 50 feet wide 50 feet long I throw in apples to try to stimulate them until our enrichment toys come, yeah when they don’t free range they are in the coup
What exactly is 50 * 50 feet ?
Usually a coop is much smaller.

Are you new with chickens? Your first winter period?
I see now you joined BYC yesterday. So ..

I suppose we all make/made beginners mistakes with chickens. We just try to help. Please don’t get annoyed.
One of the staff members wrote a good article about keeping chickens in winter. It’s somewhere in the Article-learning centre.

I found the Article about keeping chickens in Winter:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/caring-for-chickens-in-the-winter.77128/

There are more, but I haven’t read them.
I have no clue if they are good and add more reliable info. The number of ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ in the reviews give an indication of the quality. We don’t have harsh winters in the Netherlands, therefore I only know from reading you need a big coop or have to cover the run in winter to keep your chickens happy.

I hope you have the possibility to give this pullet private personal space, separate from the flock if she is pecked on. With a few mesh panels you can seperate her within the coop if it’s really that large. If she injured herself it might be all right to keep her in the group, even without the bluecote/ blue stuff.

It's not bad at all! But typically a coop is a fully enclosed building that can be made predator-proof, and then you have a big "run," or exercise area like your 50x50 space. My coop (I call it a hen house) is an 8x10 building that I can completely enclose and lock up at night. "Free ranging" means they are outdoors in an open area, often with no fences, like in a pasture or maybe a partly wooded area, with no or limited protection from predators. Those of us willing to take that risk usually have dogs on patrol to keep coyotes and foxes away, and we lock the chickens up in the coop from dusk to early morning to protect them from raccoons and other nocturnal hunters.

Okay so I have a flock of 18 hens all who I care for, I went out to feed them today 12/2/25 at 5:30 pm to notice one of the hens who is around 6 months old, is bleeding at the comb, her face is a little carved into but not major, i suspected the others were bullying her and i cannot seperate them, what do I do?

If you have pictures of your set up that would be great. I'm honestly have trouble imagining it.

It’s the area their in all the time, she’s doing good actually
She's adorable, I love my Sapphire Gems. Seems like she's just had a bad comb bleed that made it look worse than what it really was. They are still young pullets. But I just want you to be aware you could potentially end up with some bad bullying and feather pecking with them being in that area all the time. That's really not the ideal size for 18 chickens. As a coop to sleep in yes its plenty of room. During good weather do they get to range outside of the barn? I know you said they get about two hours out in the barn to scratch around because of snow right now. How much snow do you get? Mine do just fine in the snow but we usually don't get more than 5 to 6 inches at a time when we do get snow. So I shovel trails for them and they go about there day.
