3wk old Brahma chick lethargic and sleepy. Standing hunched and puffed up. Not eating or drinking much. Noticed it had passed a small white poo that almost looked like chewing gum. Been hand feeding home made electrolyte solution. Just pooped white watery/ mucus stool. Can anyone help?

I’ve been feeding chick feed. They have access to chick grit. The other chicks very unruly and eating anything they can get near, but this one is much more sedate usually. Possible though as other than the two poo’s I mentioned it hasn’t pooped this afternoon.

Hi I’m sorry about your chick being ill. What type of bedding is she on? Could she have eaten some paper toweling or lining from a puppy pad? Mine did that one time and it didn’t hurt them but they pooped out the white paper.

Ok. Got up this morning. Chick is in a separate box. Blood spots on floor of bedding and a small hole in back of her neck. Feathers a bit crusty around wound so clearly happened in early hours of this morning. Last night I was pushing fluids with a dropper and she started getting a bit perkier. She’s taken some food offered by hand , but none otherwise and has had a few poos that look more solid. Last fed/fluids about 3-4 this morning.

No I don’t but mixed some into the food I’ve been offering by hand and she’s eaten some of that.
Maybe that will help her begin to pass some of whatever might have upset her crop or digestive tract. It’s hard to say. I would watch her closely for the next 8 hours or so and see what transpires. If she doesn’t improve you may have to seek a vet or look at placing her on some antibiotics?
