HELP possibly egg bound?

i’m guessing she hasn’t laid much because she’s older, as before this she looked healthy despite simply not laying anymore, like our welsummer. i’m always on the lookout for her & our other black sex link because i know they’re prone to egg problems because of their breed
she’s doing a lot better now! we had to make her throw up and the smell basically confirmed it was sour crop. her crop is smaller than a golf ball and firmer now so we’re working on massaging that down until she can pass it. everything’s looking up and it looks like she’s feeling a lot better now

That’s good! If she’s unable to pass whatever is still in there you can try giving her a stool softener (docusate sodium), not a laxative.

Make sure that she is drinking plenty of water, and I would offer a little cooked egg with a spoonfull of plain yogurt. Sour crop can be from a long standing crop impaction, and both can be because of an existing other problem, such as a reproductive problem. Many give chilled coconut oil cut into small pieces to offer orally, and antifungal medicines, such as Monistat cream 1/2 inch or 1/3 of a suppository twice a day given orally. Medistatin powder (nystatin) is also very good to use in food, and is available online. Here is an article with suggestions:

thank you for the advice. she’s kinda sunk back down and is constantly closing her eyes now, we’ve given her probiotics but she hasnt shown any desire to eat or drink at all. we’ve had to syringe water for her. we’re planning on offering her cooked egg late this afternoon, but if she refuses to eat it, do we force it or wait some time?
her crop still feels as squishy as it was before, albeit a bit smaller. she still smells sour and it seems when she lowers her head down she brings it right back up with a little drinking motion.

had her outside for a moment while we cleaned her cage. walked around slowly, winced, but was able to catch a fresh breath of air as well as see her flock mates. our other black sex link is pacing the fence worried about her. she had no desire to peck at anything anyway.

thank you everyone for your help! we’re a long ways away from full recovery but she’s looking up!
i remember two days ago when she’d only stand in one spot, closing her eyes. yesterday she was walking slowly, spent most of her time beneath our apple tree, and pecked at a cucumber. this morning we opened her cage and she let herself out! she’s scratching and pecking at things now, talking to us, and her comb looks back to normal. we still have a ways to go but it’s looking up. thank you!
