Hi!
I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. I have 20 chickens and 2 ducks and I've never lost one to a predator yet. I will post a pic of my pen tomorrow. I use livestock wire. It's horizontal rectangular wire (heavy duty) with about a foot of chicken wire around the bottom on the outside of the livestock wire. Cover your top if it isn't. Most wire is about 3' wide, so I took 2 x 4's and "u-nailed" the wire to it across the top. This will make the top sturdy and keep it from sagging. My coop isn't anything fancy, but it sure works. I feel pretty confident that my girls are safe when I go to bed at night.
I'll take pics detailed pics tonight and put them on here tomorrow. It may be a little bit of work, but it's worth it.
