Help "putting down" my chicken...

I had a hen rip out her vent. I didn't notice it until her comb turned orange and she was limp and looked almost dead. She is my dd's pet chicken. I couldn't put her down so I just washed her off and put her in the coop. Her vent turned into a hard lump for about 2 months. Just a few days ago I saw her in the nesting boxes. I looked at her vent and it was all soft and pink. It looked like nothing ever happened to it. At the worst of it I even showed it to a vet who thought it was hopeless.

I use the broom when needed. There are videos on how to do it in youtube, but essentially you put the chicken on the ground, place a stick about the size of a broomstick on the neck, stand on the stick on either side and pull up on the feet. I can post the youtube if you decide ti do that.

I've had an internal layer - I let her live until she became uncomfortable and no, she didn't pop. If you are comfortable trying to drain her, that's an option that will make her feel better although it is not a cure.

All that said, if you decide she needs to be put down and you are unable to do it the quick and 'easy' way (pills and such to me seem to be hit and miss and not a good way. Possible to NOT kill her or to do it too slowly while she suffers), you'll have to find a vet to do it. =( I have to tell you on my first chicken that I put down, I tried the ether and gas chamber methods (I was desperate) and neither worked.
