Help! Reproductive issues - Need Advice

They do turn up their noses - uh beaks to pellets. :sick Spoiled girls!
Well my bag is almost done & I have a bag of pellets that I was going to switch them over to anyway since I noticed they don't finish the fines anymore.

Is it ok if I mix some of the old feed for a few days to transition them over? Or is it better to go cold turkey?
I don't mind wasting a little feed if that's what's best for my ladies. I just want them to be healthy & live long happy lives.

Btw she's looking a little better now, scratching a little with the other girls. Not as vigorous as normal but not just standing there.

Good to hear that she is looking a bit brighter.
Yes, I would add the pellets into the ferment mix so that it is fermenting too, gradually diluting the Scratch and Peck and don't give them any more until they clear up what you give them each day. You will have to be firm I'm afraid. Chickens are much better at training us than we are at training them because we like to see them happy, so we give in!

This same scenario is happening with one of my 10 mth old hens. This is just how her issue started. You can search for my thread "Help diagnose my CCL hen".
Ive been documenting the progress. It started with laying soft shelled eggs, then went to looking hunched and miserable, not wanting to eat, drink. Its awful hard on them to pass softies. Yes, give Tums, break it in half, open her beak and put it in, she will swallow if you put it back far enough, but not too far that she inhales it.
Oh my gosh I'm so sorry to hear that! :hugs

Thanks for telling me how to feed the Tums. I wasn't sure what was the best way.

I hope your hen recovers. What does CCL mean?

How often & how many times should I give her the Tums? I gave her one yesterday.

She hasn't laid again (which I'm totally fine with if that makes her feel better). She's more active today but not her spritely mischievous self.

Should I keep giving 1/2 a tablet to her everyday until she lays?

:sick
To much calcium can cause problems too, so I would not continue with the Tums on a daily basis unless she is actively straining to pass an egg and looking like she is struggling.
Thank you for your advice!
She seems to be doing better this afternoon. Ran over to me & hopped onto my arm for a little chat.
Most likely complaining about the new feed. :sick
