HELP!!!! Rooster beats up new hen

We just got the sweetest white silkie hen...She is two years old and very broody and we have been waiting for her for some time now...

Problem is our americana roo HATES her......We have her in a separete pen now and we cant let her out or he will come after her, head down, wings splayed.. He starts ripping her feathers out and flogging her violently, she is so little he is going to kill her....The funny thing is we also introduced a new americana hen that same day and he is just fine with her. We also have another silkie (black) who he is fine with as well.....He is great with all the hens exept this poor little white silkie....Is there anything we can do, why does he hate her?

Yes, I would be VERY careful. We had a game rooster that would do this violently to a full sized cochin hen. One day he just tore into her head and KILLED her, blood everywhere.

Sounds like you may need a new roo or your little hen will never be in the big coop.


You might want to try putting her in an area where he can see her but can't touch her for a couple of days and see how that goes...

Sadly getting rid of Clyde (the roo) is not a option. We have to many people waiting for chicks that he has fathered as he is very beautiful....We put her in a little coop that we keep within the big coop....So everyone can see her but cant get her. But everytime we let her out our roo tries to kill her...Its very sad, white feathers everywere and a very scared little silkie....Im sorry to say our little girl might have to go....Anyone else have some ideas???
