Hey, flathead is still struggling with whatever disease she had. We are unsure whether it’s wry neck, curled toe paralysis, or mareks 😬
Today she started looking up at the sky and making heavy breathing noises. We brought her inside and don’t know what to do. Are there any vitamins that can help! I just don’t want her to suffer and she’s still so young 😭

I'm sorry she's still having problems.

Have you been giving her daily vitamin E and B-Complex as suggested in your previous threads?

If so and she's not improved and you've had the vet do a follow up with the Giardia issue, then it may be time to put her out of her misery.

If you lose her, then sending the body for analysis is the best way to know what was going on with her and it will give you the most information about what treatment(s) or management changes (if any) need to be implemented.

You can look up your State Lab here:

We have been giving her the vitamins, but recently she has started to get picky and refuses to eat any food that has the medicine in or on it. It is really hard to make sure she gets all of it. Any suggestions?

The E is disgusting tasting if you've been mixing that in her food. It's supposed to be given orally by just popping it in her mouth. I think you could crush the B into the scrambled eggs she needs for the selenium though.

We have gel capsules for the E vitamins.Do you just pop the entire thing in her beak?
That is what I do with the gel capsules. When they have wry neck bad like that you really have to force the vitamins to make sure they’re getting enough. It took almost a month of daily vitamins to get my one bird back to normal. He was in bad shape…but he’s now a thriving little rooster dude 😍

Good advice on giving the E orally. B complex crushes a dissolves in food or a spoonful of water, but giving 1/3-1/2 tablet orally is fasted and most accurate. Things I have used to hide medicines are peanut butter, liverwurst, cream cheese, and scrambled egg. With her wry neck and curled toe paralysis, that has not responded to B complex, I would suspect Mareks. Is there any way you can try to get testing through RAL in Texas, by sending off for a pcr testing kit materials to collect a blood sample from a trimmed toenail? Your state vet can also help diagnose after death with a necropsy and testing. Necropsies may show spots and tumors on organs and nerves which indicate Mareks. Have you read any articles about Mareks? I can link a few here if interested.
