HELP! Severely impacted crop!

Congratulations. I don’t know how experienced a flockster you are, but I do know that to loose a chick after mothering it for a month would be heartbreaking.

Do you have any insight into why it happened? When what you suspected to be the blockage came up, could you tell what it was? I ask in part because I was out shopping chick supples (imagine that) today and found grit in three sizes. I was amazed at what they were calling medium, for growers. It was the size of a new pencil eraser, huge, I thought, as I tried to imagine my birds trying to swallow that at 9 weeks.

In any case, as the earlier poster said, good job. Your being alert to the chick’s behavior no doubt saved that little bird. :thumbsup
