Help! Sick baby chick lethargic and laying on back

Hi liz,
I recently had a chick do exactly the same as yours and I managed to save it by giving it a dose of vitamin B1. He perked right back within 12 hours, started eating and is now one of my strongest chicks again. But I know how weak he was just a few days earlier and I felt if I hadn't given him vitamin B1 he wouldn't have made it.
It is also very important to note what people have mentioned that corrid treatment interferes with the uptake of thiamine which is the most essential vitamin an ailing chick needs in the first week.
foods high in vitamin b1 include brown rice husks, sprouted wheat (wheat germ), sunflower seeds and egg yolk

Thank you so, so much! Your resources are so helpful.
This morning he has been more lucid and is even chirping again, which I take as a positive sign! He did not chirp at all yesterday or the day before. I am still doing a little nutridench on his beak every two hours + water with sav a chick electrolytes + offering him food and trying to get him to eat a little. You said you gave a dose of vitamin b1– can you tell me what you used? All I can find are things like nutridench and poultry boost that have several vitamins in them.
Here is a picture of him sitting today, still wanting to go backward and unable to stand or sit on his own.

Keeping your brooder temperature perfect is the key. You mentioned your using a pellet type bedding. Perhaps he ate some of it?
Check his crop. It should be empty in the morning. Squishy.
Feed him some scrambled egg and nutri drench. Plus he'll need fresh water too. Wet his chick crumbles and make it mush.
He just might be too immature to really digest the food in his crop.
Keep us posted and good luck with your lil baby chick.
Your a good momma already!

@GermanKennhuhn @Mellowmalt @Paperairplanepilot I cannot thank you all enough for your help!! He has started eating solid food all by himself and is working hard to stay upright and walk. Thank you so, so much!
:celebrateThat's great!
