They say patience is a virtue. I'm really taking that to heart right now. I'm a first time mother to 18-almost nine week old feather babies, but I couldn't wait.... I wanted eggs, NOW!

So I went to a sale last Saturday and bought 4 big gilrs, already laying. I didn't know that they should be quarentined(sorry about the spelling) so I put them in with my babies. After hearing one of the newby's sneezing, I realized she had a stuffy nose with dry crusted "boogers". I was cleaning that off when I smelled that odor of decaying flesh. I came inside and started looking on the web. That was when I figured that she probably had contagious coryza.

I've done a lot or research on it lately and have gotten her somewhat away from the others. I have medicated her with the Tylan 50 for three days, and she seems to be getting better. Nasal discharge is looking better and not as much sneezing and coughing.

While I was out with my babies this morning, I heard someone sneezing. I was hoping against hope that it was just pollen or dust, but when I found which one it was, it is one of by little RIR. She is breathing with her mouth open, sneezing, having labored breathing and wheezing with a few crackles. I immediately brought her in and gave her a dose of Tylan. She just pooped on me and it was just a small bit and liquid.
Do you in your opinion think i've caught this in time, and should I put Terramycin or some other antibiotic in their water for the rest of them? I'm afraid by now, they have all been exposed.... Any suggestions?????

They have all been exposed and as it is so very contagious I would chance a guess and suggest you treat them all a full course.
You have separated those adults now from the chicks?
(Be sure to give a live culture yogurt after the course of antibiotics daily free choice for at least five weeks)

I've brought Reba the 9 week old in the house and medicated her with the Tylan. I also gave her some water in a syringe. She isn't any better, but at least she isn't any worse. "Big Mama" is away from the others, but i wonder if it is a moot point since they were all together for two days before stupid me realized there may even be a problem. Do you think I should put something like Terramycin in their water as a probiotic for the rest since they have all been exposed?

If I understand you correctly, I need to give them all the three day dose of Tylan. If that is the case, I will do that when it gets dark and I can keep up with everybody easier. If I do that, Do you think I still need to quarinteen the sick ones, or since everybody is medicated, it won't matter?
