I've had this happen to one chicken before. It killed her. It's like a huge growth/abscess where the crop/breast is. Also, when she bends over to drink liquid seems to come out of her mouth. I separated her from the rest of the flock, and then gave her electrolytes, water, and food. It's hot out, so I hope she doesn't suffer. She currently is standing in the shade. She acts like she can't sit down. What is this and how can I help her?

her crop looks huge for a sick hen. check for sour crop by feeling the crop. or maybe force some liquids, rub her crop pretty good, and then hold her upside down while rubbing the crop. should force some nasty & smelly stuff out if it is sour crop.

A sour crop would also generate heat, which may be why she's choosing shade, but heatstroke probably slows digestion, which could also cause this.
