Glad you can take him to your vet. While you're there, talk to your vet about worming and tube feeding. FWIW, I've never seen a rooster that's about to die crow, so I think that's a very good sign!

I'd keep him in the crate with food and water.

Go to the vet. Don't forget to talk about tube feeding.

you have to get him on a round of antibiotics real quick. Mine was from a feed store and it was for horses and pigs so I just guessed the dilution. A pinch in the daily water. Has added vitamins and minerals for stress. If yours does not buy that extra for extreme stress. I keep those on hand always for moulting, winter, swelltering summer and anything that overloads the immune system. Keep him warm, can he get away from the heat too.
He may be cooking and getting stressed anyway.

I just got back from the vet. The vet said he has a very serious ear infection.
