Help! so frustrated with plucking I'm about to give up!

How did you kill them, I've found out that if you hang them cut the jugular and not behead them they pluck easier after the scald or even dry pluck. (dont try till you've done a few scalded birds first(dry pluck))

I usually do skin them, but these ones I was wanting with the skin on. I can skin and quarter out a bird in less than 5 minutes as well, but sometimes you just want chicken with skin on LOL. I skin all my "extra" roos, but wanted my meaties with the skin left on.

Well, sadly, it took me 12 hours to get 11 birds from pen to freezer...ugh!

But last night I roasted one in the oven, it was delectable! Nice, moist and juicy, not at all like an extra roo.

Why are you plucking by hand? Why not make the $8 plucker for a drill. It is so easy and take no time at all.

You need a PVC end cap drilled 3/8 " hole in center instal long carriage bolt for a shaft. Then drill 3/8 " holes all around outside. Cut a bunge to make the fingures into 3' lenghts. Cut the edge of each side of each piece except for a helf an inch at the end. Pull thru end cap the half inch not cut will stop it from going threw and hold it in place. Anchor drill to a table or have some one hold it while running. Homemade chicken plucker it works great.

If you wish to see this in action PM me so I can send you the link for it is on another site.

Here is the link to it from BYC it is one page back here in meaties. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=180835
