Help! Someone Accused me of selling old eggs

And while we’re on the subject I was wondering how much farm fresh eggs are sold for in your area. I was discussing how prices differ in different states in different areas with a friend. So I was just wondering what’s the average in your area?

I consider an egg that is more than 2 weeks old to be an issue if selling to the public. Agreed with Rachel, an egg should keep for well over a month. BUT, when selling to the public, they deserve the best. My standard just happens to be "2 weeks or less". Any eggs that are stained, have weak shells or have any other issues go into "my" carton. I save the best and freshest for my customers.

@Rachel Taylor , tell your "egg boiling" customer: Boil them with LOTS of salt in the water (about a tbsp.). Rinse and chill them, let them set overnight, and peel the next day. Run a bit of water in them as you peel them. The water goes between the egg and membrane, making it super easy to slip them out of the shell. I also use a spoon to shuck an egg out of the shell b/c the spoon matches the contours of the egg.

You could do a float test. I don't keep eggs more than a month...(to eat) ,especially if you wash. Most grocery store eggs are a month old or so...

I never wash my eggs. I never have any complaints. I don't give away dirty eggs, I keep those for myself, and wash them, then eat them immediately. My eggs last for months...and it is only in the third month that they start to go old. If it is hot here, I will refrigerate them. I've done many tests on my eggs over the years for freshness...and float them to see how fresh they are...also break them open if I question it. That being said, any eggs I sell are always less that 2 weeks old...usually they are one week old.

I'm in a very rural area. Probably every other house at least has chickens.
I'd be lucky to get $1.50 for a dozen that's why I don't mess with trying.
More towards the city most sell for $2 to $2.50.
Out here everyone wants farm fresh eggs. Honestly when I saw a month old that's what I thought of. People here would not be happy with eggs that old.
I don't think they would be bad but just not what people would want to pay for.
