help! something is wrong with my cayuga's leg :(

One of my Swedish had a swollen knee joint over the summer. Looks just like your photo. He was in a tussle with a bigger male (who was separated out after) and end up limping. The limping turned into a painful swollen joint. It was warm to the touch. He was refusing all movement of the knee, ankle, and foot/toes do to pain. I had access to antibiotics which did bring the swelling down quickly but the joint never recovered. I kept him in a plastic mini baby pool chicken wired off from the other birds for a good 3 weeks. He could see them and be in the barn but without threat of being picked on. It took some time but he now has full mobility of the joint and is able to spread out his toes when he walks. My little sugar now walks with a limp. He is the baby in my profile pic actually. :) He is a little slow but still the sweetest duck ever. Oh, and 3 weeks in a little spot with food makes em a little butterball- lol.

Awwwh that is soo sweet. Glad your little one is better! Ducks can really be some of the sweetest pets. Quackers has really relied on us alot ever since we got him bc he never could really walk but a short distance before he lost his balance. And now he's really counting on us. Hopefully he can bounce back to his normal before too long. .. still has very mild swelling.. but eating and drinking all the time. We added some food supplement in his meals as well... so hopefully it will all work out for him!

He's very blessed to have you. Glad to hear it's resolving on it's own.
