HELP!! Sour Crop??

We have five chickens all together. Is it possible for one to have worms and not the others? None of the others are exhibiting symptoms? Would a feed store have the medications you mentioned?

Cheers,
Edith

If one has them, chance are pretty good the other do, too. I'm not saying that's the problem, but worming is a good place to start. Tractor Supply will have Safeguard for goats. The treatment I would use is Safeguard at 0.23ml per pound by mouth for five days in a row.

Can you take her to a vet? A vet can check for bacteria, yeast and parasites.

Hi Kathy, I'm still feeding yogurt with the active proboitics. She actually ate a small amount of egg with olive oil just a while ago. Only thing she has eaten on her own for days. We are very warm here in the 80s and we are setting on the porch, she seem to enjoy being outside and not in the cage in the house. I'm thinking about trying the Monistat with her she can not go on much longer without eating I'm thinking. Her comb is starting to flop I sure hope something starts to work soon. Thank you for checking on her and the advice.

Is she still drinking?

One of her coop mates has bumbblefoot ( not sure of the spelling on that) so they all got antibiotics. I'm wondering if that got rid of some of her good bacteria. She is with her coop mates now, they came on the porch and she is acting like she feels better just being around them or faking so they aren't sure she feel bad. Yes she is drinking water, eating yogurt, and now she has eaten egg.
give her water also with a syringe to make sure she is drinking.

If she stops drinking on her own, she'll need 30ml per 2.2 pounds every 6-8 hours.

OK Thanks! Do you think the antibiotics could have weakened her system?

And to answer your other question "To puke, or not to puke?", only do it if you feel confident that you can do it without killing your bird.

Im not a vet but id say if the crop isnt emptying, its blocked. I read a article on the 'chicken chick' on it when one of mine had it. It puked a few times just by lightly squeezing its crop upside down let it get air inbetween, then it got tougher, wads of hay, at one point the hay wad wouldnt come out and the pullet did a death flop with a spot of blood in its eye. I thought i killed it. Got the hay out and did some hands only cpr. She came back!! Fed her greek yogurt and lots of olive oil for a few days. Her crop was pretty streeched out but now a couple months later that EEgr pullet looks acts normal, crops normal.
