Help! Terrible coop fire, burned birds, destroyed coops. Need help in east TN! *graphic pics*

She said she had talked to them, but no help. Haven't talked much to her this week, been very busy, but it's the weekend and I will see what I may be able to round up in material and take a trip over there.

I got my idea for one of mine from this video. It was very easy and turned out a lot nicer than the pallet chicken houses I saw vids of.
I plan to build another very large one. I got all of my pallets free and used scrap lumber for cleats and such. I used 1.50 fence boards to close the gaps.
When I needed a new fenced area for my broody pen I made it out of pallets and 1.50 fence panel boards for the height to support the top and fence above the pallet bottom. Weather tolerant and inexpensive and strong enough to stop predators. I will look to see if I have some photos in my profile and if I don't I'll post some by this evening.
I am so sorry for your friends loss. It must be heart wrenching.

here is the vid that inspired my recent additions to my chickens comfort and thus mine. I hope this helps, it is easy to get them free and scrap lumber from construction sites.

Burns are very nasty things. Once the skin has been compromised there isnt much for the body to protect itself from outside infections. They will need lots of sanitation, lots of cleanliness and lots of pain management.

Imagine a person with the same burns, the percentage of area burned can be fatal. Its not the burns, but the infections that get into the body from the burns. In an intensive care unit for burns, care givers use bio suits, clean gloves, hair nets and sterilization up the wall.

I hate to say it, but the poor things are going to be in intense pain for weeks. If they survive the infections, the burns will stress them and even healed burn scars are very painful.

Im really sorry to see this happen and my prayers and heart go out to her.

Quick update, sorry been really busy, 2 jobs, babies hatching everywhere, spring planting and trying to move = no BYC time
I stopped by the other day, the 2 burned girls survived and are looking more like chickens every day, though they resemble frizzles a bit. More of her birds showed back up, so she lost less then she thought. She had enough wood and stuff donated to her to build 3 small coops and her insurance send a check and this week the driveway is getting paved and her birds are getting a big barn from the money. Her birds seem to really enjoy dustbathing in the ashes too, guess it's great for their feathers and keeping parasites away, though she doesn't have any white birds anymore lol
So it is really looking up for her now, I am so happy for her!

Fantastic!!

Its always great to hear such good news!!

They think it was the electrical box, she had all the cables and lights secured very well, nothing was lose or rickety, because she didn't want anything to happen to her birds or her little girls in the house next to the coops, but I guess even with all precautions fires still happen

can we donate money via pay pal? I'm so saddened by this but live in California. so far away. please let me know if we can help with a pay pal donation.
