Oh, and I know you keep oyster shell available. Do you have a dish of grit for Ebony as well?

Oyster shell always yes, and I see her go to the container and eat some. And I do not at the moment for anyone no, I need to pick some up though we’ve been saying it for a while but really need to. Because ebony has had crop isssues before one time and has just a teeny squishy crop rn that I believe is from excess long blades of grass which happened last time and I removed her seed when that happened last time and allowed no grass at all just her turkey crumble and water until the crop went downOh, and I know you keep oyster shell available. Well, chickens have different nutritional requirements than turkeys, so I'd get them their own food personally. (Though I have no idea how you keep them from eating each other's food. Perhaps someone who keeps multiple kinds of birds can elaborate on that.) Your birds all share a common run area, right? Is their food out there? That was an amazing analogy and way to explain that. Thank you so much for that, I know what you mean. Everyone eats that except my waterfowl which are on turkey grower crumble so I’ll keep the waterfowl on that still and try to get a layer crumble that will be perfect for her and probably feed my little bantam chickens the same feed as her? They eat TMC seed too. I hope she enjoys her seed the last day or so lol.. she loves it. Before she gets switched, I worry about her being picky and not touching it but she will get used to it and will eat it right? And I can still give grapes on the side? She loves those so much
If birds are going to eat anything besides crumble it's very important for them to have grit. They can't break down grass or other things without the stones to grind it up. Crop issues can definitely stem from this. And grit is only a couple bucks a bag and lasts a long time. It's well worth the investment. I've read a lot of topics about people trying to help their birds with crop problems. It's very difficult and often doesn't end well.Oyster shell always yes, and I see her go to the container and eat some. You should be using a quality all flock feed which usually has 20% protein. The all flock has the proper levels of lysine, methionine and niacin that a turkey needs. Stay away from sunflower seeds, corn and flax seeds as they contain too much fat. Provide oyster shell free choice. What feeds do you suggest are good for like a big turkey hen? I only have one left now.. what about the turkey grower/ starter
Get an All Flock. Purina sells a flock raiser. A layer should only be fed when hens are actively laying. Since most turkey hens don't consistently lay I personally wouldn't feed a layer. Too much calcium can damage the kidneys, so I always just offer a separate bowl of oyster shells for the calcium needs. Treats should be limited. It needs to have all of those things..? And the layer feed crumble I get will be great for her and ensure better quality of health for her..? And that’s the only feed I will be able to give after that correct..? No more seed..?
Okay. I will look at my feed store for something like that. If not then maybe tractor supply. And can that feed be fed to her, as well as say my bantam chickens? My bantam chickens are eating all TMC only. I wanna make sure everyone is getting what they need now. Bantam chickens are on TMC and then my ducks/ geese are on turkey starter/grower full time. Free range and plenty of exercise is also helpful.
Turkey starter is for the first 6 weeks after hatching and grower is for the next 6 weeks.
All your birds can eat the flock raiser if you want to simplify things.Okay. I will look at my feed store for something like that. If not then maybe tractor supply. I will definitely look into getting some grit. Just want all the feeds confirmed as my mom and I need set plan I raise all different bird species her being the only turkey. She had an awful crop when she was rehomed to me about 8 months ago and was great for a while since I pulled her TMC and allowed no grass but her turkey crumbles and now it’s back so I guess I need to pull again? If birds are going to eat anything besides crumble it's very important for them to have grit.
