Heelers are good dogs, but they are certainly not for everyone. They can be territorial, bond to one person, and they are not very social. They also need constant stimulation to prevent boredom. However, in the right home they can be amazing dogs.
Also, most herding dogs will not kill predators. My dog is great at protecting the chickens, but would rather chase off a predator then kill it. Personally, I wouldn't want my dog to just kill everything on sight when chasing off a predator is adequate.
