Help? what breed and gender is my chick?

Please help me figure out what breed my 4 week old chick is. It was given to me so we have no idea what breed or gender it is. I am guessing it is a rooster but hoping not. It is very friendly and lets my 4 yr pack it around everywhere. Thanks

Rhode Island Red? A rooster, yep.

Looks like a Rhode Island red or Red star to me . though quite a bit of white in the face .. Chickens often get mixed so could be a crossed breed . Still pretty young but those legs are looking thick and a bit of a beard and pronounced crown .. to early for me to tell as I am not the best at it but I would guess Rooster .. I guess your getting scratched a bit if your wearing Gloves like that ; )
Hopefully some one with better skills than I have will chime in but that would be my silly guess

RIR or red sexlink? Not sure on the gender...

Thanks my husband was working on building our coop is the reasoning for the gloves, not because of the chick

I was guessing a sexlink cause we have one rhode island red from the same breeder and she is a lot darker

My RIR's are quite a bit darker than yours, so I'm going to guess sex link/red star. My 2 cents is that it's a boy as well since that is quite a bit of comb development for 4 weeks old.
