HELP-what is hanging from my hen-**PHOTOS ADDED**

PLEASE HELP....I just went out and saw this thing hanging from one of my hens. I tried to pull it thinking it was poop but it didn't want to break away and it seemed like I was pulling something connected to her so I stopped.

What is it? I just have 3 hens and they are 2 years old.

I have photos but can't load them as I don't see an attachment link. But, this thing is HUGE and hard.

I'd pick her up, wash her off and see if it's a prolapse.

If it is, you need to clean it off real well with warm soapy water and gently push it back in. Put some preparation H on it. You probably will need to separate her so the other chickens don't peck at it.

Hi Smiley -

Do a search for prolapse. There is an old thread from 2007 titled "Please help my chicken with prolapse" that talks about applying honey to reduce the prolapse.

I'm not sure if that is what you have because I haven't had this problem with any of my girls yet, but that thread looks interesting.
