I have two turkey poults ( pets )
My husband is building them an enclosure but I'm concerned it may be on the small side for 2 full grown turkeys. What square footage do you recommend.
I should also add he is making it 7 ft tall ( fully enclosed )

Turkeys need 2 to 4x the space of a chicken, but more is better.. don't forget poultry math.. so a run would be 20 to 40 sq ft per bird min and a coop 8 to 16 sq ft per bird... they need room to spread their wings and get off the roost... roost about 2 ft from a wall
They really don't want to use a coop except to lay or bad weather if the run doesn't have a solid roof... but I make mine to go in because of predators.
Mine use the front part of the run to pace the fence... my run is about 70' x 75' and they are in with some of the chickens.. the turkeys regularly use about 30' x20'

I'm terrible at dimensions but he said the interior space is about 100 sq feet. Too small?
We just have the two of them.

just about big enough for 2... what breed are they?
FYI if they both end up being boys they will fight a lot to establish who is top tom... when they fight they step on and break everything.

They are Narragansett's.
I actually asked for two Toms. But I think one is a hen. The one I believe is a Tom is so much bigger, moves very slow and deliberate. Calmer temperate. He also has huge legs and much longer tail feathers. He's super quiet too, except for a "Chh, Chh, Chh" type sound. Almost like purring.
The one I suspect is actually a hen is smaller, shorter tail feathers, much more active and chirpy.
I guess it's kinda a fun guessing game.
I'm super in love with the one I suspect is a male though.. he's the sweetest.
