help with a new bator/LG Still Air

Cyn, Eggs are here safe and sound, got them resting right now. Got a new Accurite with a probe, Humidity right now at 42%.

Great! I'm so glad they arrived intact! The Tn and FL people got theirs yesterday, but I had a suspicion that yours might take an extra day.
You probably already know this and have done it correctly, but some people in the past have gotten confused about that thermo/hygro combination: just to be sure, the entire unit must go inside the bator to read humidity since the probe is only to measure "outside" temp, but not humidity. I guess alot of people put the probe out a window at their house, but that makes it the perfect thing to put inside a water weasel for egg temp simulation.
Good luck!

Hey Cyn, got temp at 101 and humidity at 47%,

I think we are ready. Thanks for all your help, now let the waiting begin,

What is the ideal humidity in a still-air incubator? Mine is reading in the 60+% range. Is that too high? I have all vent holes open. Only on day 2 so maybe I haven't done any damage, yet. TIA!!

Tammy, the humidity in a still air and circ air is the same. The first 18 days you want about 40-50% and no higher. The last three days, you want 65-70%. Just let it evaporate out till it's around 35% before you add anymore water.

Well, the humidity in my still-air incubator w/all the vent holes open is reading in the upper 60's % range. Don't know if I can do anything to decrease that. I'm on day 5 & haven't added any water since day 1 & don't see any water in the channels in the bottom of the incubator. The digi temp/hygrometer is all the way inside the incubator, too, lying on the mesh in the bottom of the box with the eggs. They'll either hatch or they won't. We'll see. They're really, really pretty DARK brown maran eggs, too. Thanks!!!

Hey Cyn, Set the eggs Friday the 12th at 10:00 pm. Everything seems to be going good, temps around 101 and 46% humidity. What do you think??? Oh and I got your email about the Lt. Brahama's, I have two of those X with the Blue Orp. maybe mine will be the first

So if I set them at 10:00 pm on Friday tonight at 10:00 will be day three? is that right?

Hey, Bobbie! If you set them late Friday night, then Saturday would be Day One and count that way and this was Day Three.
I think in a still air, the temp should be as close to 102 as you can get it, but I only have one with a fan, so maybe someone can tell us both if 101 is good enough for your bator. Your humidity sounds perfect, though. I sure hope those Lt Brahma crosses hatch. I put five in the bator myself to do a larger test sampling of her eggs and I'll let you know if they are growing in a couple of days. Sure hope yours do make it. I put you some Blue Orp/Buff Brahmas in there, too, right? Those ought to do well since Adam's hatched and Christina in Washington has some about to hatch as well.
