Help with baby chick! Please help!!

Last night I had something get in and kill 7 of my 10 baby chicks.

I moved them inside and have been giving them some TLC but one of the chicks doesn't want to move. It just sits on the ground while its sisters walk right over it.

I have been trying for the past 14 hours to get this chick to move, drink, and eat.

10 hours ago I placed it in a incubator that I am not using and let her sit in there, undisturbed in the warmpth.

Every hour I would take her out and try to get her to eat and drink a bit.

She finally started to drink for me a few mins ago, but wants nothing to do with the chick starter.

Any ideas on how to get her to eat? Or should I try later?

I just need help!

Any other symptoms? Does she look or act injured?

Is she making noise? Eyes open?

She makes cheeping noises when I pick her up, but soon quiets as I hold her longer.

She just sits there and closes her eyes and is just "there"


They were hatched on Monday and I got them via mail yesterday morning.

She kicks her legs when I pick her up so her legs aren't hurting her.

She also holds her wings out to the side.

What temperature is it in the incubator? She's not panting while she's in there, right?
I'd wet her food and make it kind of mushy, see if that will help her eat. Do you have any nutri drench? If not, some sugar water dribbled along her beak will help her regain some energy.
Maybe try some scrambled eggs.

Awe, poor baby. She may be injured or may just be in shock. I would moisten a bit of her feed and try getting her to eat that. You could also get some packets of vitamins and electrolytes by Save-a-Chick and follow the directions on the package. You just mix with water and they are sold at all farm and feed stores.

No she is not panting while in there.

I have it set to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Their water has Sav-A- a chick probiotic and electrolyte mixed in.

I have made a little bit of mushy food and have started force feeding her some. She seems to be eating that a bit.

I use a pair of tweezers to gently open her mouth and put some of the mushy food in and then close it. And then she eats it. But she wont eat it on her own

What's worse is that this chick isn't mine. It's my 12 year old sisters.

As I was ordering chicks I let her help pick out some and she wanted a rare baby chick and some bantams. This one is her fav out of all the chicks I got and I am trying desperately to save it for her

Right now I am willing to stay up all night if it means saving this chick!

I stayed up til 4am with her, she had laid her head down and fallen asleep after I put her in the incubator.

I went to bed and then woke up at 7am to let out chickens and check on the babies.

The little chick didn't make it.

I noticed she had pooped and it had blood in it. Maybe she had some interal issues going on that I didn't know about??

Thank you everyone for helping me. I am just happy she went off with food in her crop and was warm.
