I saw that, I was wondering if it was just messed up feathers.I don't think it is a black cochin, personally. It has a crest.![]()
That's not a thing.I saw that, I was wondering if it was just messed up feathers.
The crest might be from frizzled feathers. It might be a frizzled cochin, but like half frizzled, lol.
I agree. That bird is not a cream legbar. This is:

A 'half frizzled' bird. If a bird has the sizzle gene, it will completely cover other feather genes, because it is dominant. What's not a thing?
Interesting, I was not aware of that. Thank you!A 'half frizzled' bird. If a bird has the sizzle gene, it will completely cover other feather genes, because it is dominant.

I do have more chickens on our land. These are backyard pets with the benefit of a few eggs. I will probably find the cockerels new homes and be happy with what's left.#1 looks like a black cochin bantam, pullet

Do you have any other chickens?
Looks like you have 3 or 4 cockerels out of the 7 birds. Ideally, you should get rid of (or make a "bachelor coop") for all except 1 cockerel.
They look like a cute little bunch![]()
Nope! Most genes are either dominant or recessive. Hang on and I can draw a quick chart to show inheritance. I have one that I really like, but I can't find it.Interesting, I was not aware of that. Thank you!
I thought if you crossed a non-frizzled bird to a frizzled bird, it might have some frizzle in it.
