I need help gendering this newly hatched chick. I bought a fertilized egg and had my broody hen hatch it. She was successful but I’m thinking I got a roo on my hands. It’s suppose to be a Rhode Island Red x leghorn mix. They said the rooster was the Rhode Island Red. Any help is appreciated.

It’s quite a bit too early to sex the chick. For a much more accurate result it’s best to try and ask for the sex of the chick at around 6 weeks old.
I would usually wait until then but I know some hybrids are sex-link and depending on breeds you can sex from the feather color or pattern. I was wondering if anyone knows if the breeds I mentioned in post are able to do so.
