Help with my Roo

I need some help. I got some cochin bantams from a breeder that does AI only. My question is...will the roo breed the hens naturally? He has never been in the same pen with hens to breed. Will his instincts kick in?
Anyone had any similar situations?

I think they meant the rooster was used for AI and hasn't actually had the chance to mate with a hen naturally.

He will figure it out. Why AI? Guess you'll find out too. Two possible reasons come to mind: is he too rough with the hens? Or are they all so fluffy behind that fertility is low given natural breeding? Selective breeding towards 'cuteness' and fluffy posteriors means that semen may not reach that target zone...
Ask the breeder why AI.
