I would either SSS before I even put the chickens out,or make a casual remark to the neighbor that you saw prints around your coop and can't wait to get whatever is coming on your land.Easier to SSS and no hard feelings that way. I agree that you should not have to spend the money to keep other peoples animals off your land.
I tried to catch a little dog yesterday(collar/tags),but it ran across the road before I could grab the collar.No harm done except making my mini pin crazy(we are totally fenced).Now had the dog gotten INTO my yard and attacked my dogs or chickens...well I would not be so kind.Cute dog,but it could have caused accidents and/or killed someones pet. It hung out at my neighbors across the road.Shameful that no one was looking for it.My dogs would definitely leave the yard if they could.I am glad they have not learned to climb!
