Help with wormer

I’m sorry for all the questions. I just haven’t had chickens since growing up on the farm and back then my grandfather only had a few Rhode Island reds and mix breeds that ran all over the place and weren’t backyard pet chickens like mine and I just worry about getting the dose right. I really love my birds

I would only treat the goose if the birds are not infected. Treating birds not effected, is not wise. For one thing, it is a treatment, not a preventive. Another thing is, the treatment becomes useless against strains when used in excess.
Also WAZINE only treats ROUND WORMS. Not tape worms. When we get worms, which is few and far, we use safe guard. It is a broad spectrum dewormer.
I wish stores would stop stocking Wazine all together.

Post a photo of the poop.

OH NO! guess what I got ugh.

Please tell me more about safe guard. Is it the same as the dog one?
I would like to know dosage ect.

Also talk to me about having a vet check poop. Or just go ahead and treat the new chickens that were rescued

What kind of worms?

I'm sorry for not giving enough information.
I have two hens one roo. That i have taken in. they are in pretty rough shape. they have lice pretty bad and I am trying to get that under control.

I'm assuming they have worms.
Melanie a hen has had diarrhea since I got her 4 days ago I've been giving them and her save a chick probiotic for them 4 days. The other two have had good looking poops the last few days.
QUESTIONS I HAVE ARE
1 Should I go ahead and treat the newbie flock just to be safe because they came from such poor conditions? I have a existing flock that I really want to keep safe they are kept in different runs within my fenced-in Garden that is approximately an acre.

2 Should I just collect poop samples from each one of the newbies and have them tested at a local vets office. Unfortunately I have not found a vet in our area that will see chickens. I have not seen any signs of worms just Melanie constant diarrhea is making me think there could be something.

3 am I overreacting? Do I need to give her more time? I know that having access to food is new for her and that that could possibly be a reason for her to have diarrhea. I have checked to see if she was egg bound she does not like consistently from what has been told to me. She is the top hen in the pecking order. Behaves pretty normal for a chicken that was just relocated. Eating and drinking just fine
Thank you for all of your help!

When I get new birds in I treat them for lice with permethrin and/or ivermectin and I de-worm with Valbazen, Safeguard, or Panacur, but that's just me.

If you can, collect poop from all them and have it tested for worms, coccidia, bacteria and yeast, that would be best.

Since I know at least one of my birds has tapeworm & I don't know what the new ducks might be bringing in, would it be crazy to think I could give them ALL a dose of Equimax plus an extra dose of Ivermectin for potential lice, or would just the dose of Equimax handle everything in everybody?

The one dose I suggested contains enough praziquantel to kill the tapes and enough ivermectin to kill lice and mites, no need to give anything other than Equimax.

When I treat mine for lice they get ivermectin at 0.45 mg per pound. The 0.03 ml per pound amount of Equimax = 0.56 mg, so it's more than enough.

Edited to add:
Does that make sense? If anyone is interested I can go into more details one how I did the math and where I got the dosing info.

Today I got 9 chickens & a duck dewormed with Equimax which has both praziquantel & ivermectin in it. I don't know if other people do this by themselves, but it was easier for me to have someone hold the bird while I administered the meds & took notes.

I have to admit that I was totally over thinking the .03ml per pound of bird equations. Once I stopped stressing about it, I realized it was a simple multiplication problem. In other words, forget about the words ml & lbs & simply think .03 x 4 = .12 (I'm embarrassed at how badly I was over thinking that & searching for online conversation calculators when I didn't need to be.)

The birds are all enjoying some cold watermelon now & I'm pretty sure they'll forgive me. ;)
