HELP young hen bleeding from vent

@Eggcessive so you were right! We sent emails over to our family livestock vet and he said it looked like she may have been having issues laying her egg and then the other animals started picking away at her vent since most likely she was bleeding from the area and had discharge. He called the clinic there and we picked up a one time antibiotic shot for her diarrhea and a powder to put on her vent every 12 hours to help with inflammation. (I’ve posted pics below) she’s doing a lot better now it seems but I’ll be keeping her inside to monitor her probably for the rest of the week to be on the safe side! Thank you so very much again! Sarah seems to be a lot happier now - just living it up getting pampered in the house
What a Great shot of Sarah!! :love

Glad that your vet saw the pictures and prescribed treatment. I nope she get back to normal soon.
Hi again! Sooooo she hasn't prolapsed even after cutting the stitches which is awesome, but when checking out her vent the other night I noticed she had a big clump of hard (I think it's poop) that is clogging her up. I picked out a good deal and then when I came home again yesterday I found another clump in her and picked it out. I have been soaking her in the evenings when I get home a few times in between picking this stuff out of her. I will post a pic in a second when I can find it on my phone. Poor girly isn't eating as much or drinking like she has been which worries me like crazy and has definitely been sleeping a lot more today. She gets up every now in then to move from the front of her crate to the back and looks around as well. Is there anything you suggest to help this? I feel like our vet is sort of just guessing at this point, but I'm really trying to keep up making sure I can do all I can do.

There might be some damage to her vent from the prolapse and pecking. I would give her a little coconut oil (5 ml) in her food daily for a couple of days, and check to see if there is more buildup. If she has any runny poops, slack off on the oil or just do it every few days.

Okay - thank you! Whats the best way to get food in her?

That sounds like vent damage. Is she eating? I would either put a tsp of the oil into some egg or onto a small portion of chicken feed and water. Some freeze the teaspoonful of coconut oil and break it into peckable bits.

Is the skin around her vent clean and clear? If you see irritation, a terrible odor, and the constant dripping, that can be a sign of vent gleet, a fungal or yeast infection of the digestive tract. If that is suspected, then nystatin a prescription antifungal drug (Medistatin, available online) is a good treatment. Here is a link for Medistatin:
