here is what I made for my ducklings for water. It worked pretty well. Just make sure the the water is deep enough they can dip up to their nostrils or you'll find them with runny noses.

Thought I would give y'all an update on the babies! Can't believe they are all grown up. :hit
Few months old now, just moved up into the big duck pen with mom and dad where they get a nice big pool that they play in most of the day haha.

One ended up huge like the Pekin mama. I think he is a boy, he is starting to have some green tinted feathers.

The other is smaller, and has the body type of the dad. Not sure the gender of that one, will have to wait a few more months to see.

Same coloring on both, a dark brown/black color with a white bib. They are both way darker than the khaki Campbell dad, I thought that was odd.

I Went back to read the post and look at cute baby pictures and saw this.

Which reminded me, Harvey's (the smaller one) head still has weird feathers on the top side. I thought it was egg residue for the first few weeks, but their feathers are fully in and he still has a funny looking head. But he seems fine, and is still a cutie. Just thought it was strange, wonder what it is?

:love :love

White can hide extended black, so that would explain why they are darker than KC's... you should be able to sex them by voice now, full out quacks are girls and raspy, quieter ones are boys... they're gorgeous, great job!

Can't tell for sure from the pics, maybe he has a small crest?

I was wondering about the color thing, that makes a lot of sense! Thank you!

I can't remember but I think I sexed the parents bu their voice when they were younger. I forgot all about that! Now I will have to start paying closer attantion. :)

They just started the "quack" a week or 2 ago. Only one quacks now, the other still has a baby peep. So cute! I don't know which one is doing the quacking, I'll have to watch them tomorrow and see. But it is more of a loud quack rather than a raspy soft one. Thanks!

I'll have to get a better picture of it tomorrow, I don't really know how to describe it.

That baby picture I just reposted, he is the one in the back. You can kind of see the little dip on the side of his head. It was like slicked back fluff then.

It doesn't really stand out now, but from watching them both grow I can definitely see a difference. It's off on one side of his head, not really on top like a crest. I thought it might be from the less than ideal incubation? It just looks...different?

I'll catch him/her tomorrow for better pictures. They are still super friendly (could be that they lived inside for a few weeks hahaha) Maybe y'all can help figure it out. I'm kind of just curious.
