Help!

I am very interested in ducks and owning ducks. I do not yet own a duck, but I want to get one soon. I would get some hatching eggs, but there's one problem: my family doesn't want me to get one. I personally think that it would be a very good educational opportunity, and a good chance to earn some responsibility. The ducks/ducklings would have plenty of space, as I would build a place for them in my backyard. I would also be able to handle costs such as food, habitats, ect., so money is not the problem. They haven't told me yet their reason for saying no, so I don't know how to prepare my side of the argument. If anyone could tell me some ways to convince them to let me get ducklings, it would be greatly appreciated.

You could ask the reason why they don't want to own ducks or why they don't want them. Otherwise if they come up with a good answer you would probably have to leave it to them on whether to decide if not.

if you post a little intro-duck-tory info about you and your facilities surely we can quack up some ideas for you ... such as if you have a big yard / garden / pond / other animals / eco-friendly interests etc.

Sorry, I have no experience with ducks, only chickens, so I can not help you with the pros and cons. However, BYC does have a Duck Forum you might want to try posting on.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you include your general location on your profile, this will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

We had some ducklings a few years ago it was so interesting to see how they grew and watching them play in water is very enjoyable If u get hatching eggs then you can show your family how they develop and you bringing a new life into the world well I did something similar and I have now hatched 17 mixed chickens and I’m now breeding and hatching my own silkies for money

One bad thing tho if u only have 2 and they turn out to be boys they can be very aggressive and loud
