Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

You should NOT be scared... but you should know what you are facing. :hmm

He is trying to dominate you and if you don't put him in check immediately it will escalate into an attack... possibly when you aren't looking. A common problem with "first roosters" raised since egg. Even if you make the effort now, it will depend on how hormonally stupid he is already. Some boys will reform while others continue to escalate until they meat their fate. :drool Teach him to fear and avoid you. In the chicken world fear equals respect.

No, I wouldn't worry... I would make a plan. :old Teach him to get with the program, rehome him, or send him to freezer camp. You can research rooster training techniques. And probably get lots of input here. How old is he now? Spring time means hormones are raging. :fl

@Beekissed has an excellent write up on rooster management. I'll see if I can find it

Ok thanks hes a 7 months old white leghorn I'll try to do what u say but the thing that confuses me is that he was the chick out of the group who was the most human friendly so this confuses me

While it is confusing the 1st time it happens for new keepers, this is actually a very common issue with raising young males to be overly familiar with their human handlers and keepers. At this age his hormones are hitting that 1st surge and he lacks proper respect for you so he is treating you as a challenger rather than a respected superior.

Here is the link I had mentioned earlier, I think that reading this could really benefit you and most importantly your cockerel. This is something that is best addressed quickly as it gives you the best opportunity to reform the relationship the 2 of you have and change the way that you interact with him

I had that issue with my welsummers rooster. He was a good rooster and then when he got older he got more aggressive for no reason. I tried everything i could think of to put him back in line. He would chasing my dog around the yard when she was just laying there minding her own business and then he started chasing my youngest son around the yard when he wasn't even around him. Then he started going after me and ended up getting my knee pretty bad (couldn't walk for a month) and tackled my son that was his third strike and he ended up going to freezer camp.
