HELP!!!

UnfortunaIy I just lost one of my chickens by hawk. And the corpse was near the waterer,they have stopped drinking out of it.keep in mind I live in Naperville,illinois and it's been 95 degrees all week could the death affect my other chickens or is it just because it's hot(and I put ice cubes in the waterer)

I have tried that and I have also used little water nipples for them but they still wont drink

Yea they used it all up until the chicken died

Is it in an "exposed" area where the hawk could get them?

Move the waterer. Toss some sunflower seeds in so they get a bit of water.

If you have any frozen peas or even some fruit, toss it in a shallow dish of water. That should at least get some water in them right away. I put frozen blackberries in a dish of water and my girls went crazy drinking water to get at the blackberries. That was on a 90+ degree day when mine were hot.

I don’t think death effected them as much as learning if they are exposed they could die. So if the waterer is expose cover it. Plus the more shade the happier the chickens are. If there is a bush the chickens like to sit under when it gets hot. Water the bush on top before it get hot and before they get under. It might make it cooler. I have also found that putting bricks in a tub and filling the tub up with water about an inch before the water crests the bricks, the chickens will stand on the bricks. The brick soaks up the water and wind crosses over the top of th brick causing it to evaporate and cool off. Stick it in the shade and voilà
